1859 and offers target, field, clout and wand archery. We have approximately 200 members shooting a range of bow styles from the high-tech Compound to the traditional English Longbow.

Salisbury Food Bank Charity Beginners Shoot

Some months ago our SWAC Tournament Officer Thomas Godson had a notion to put on a competition specifically aimed at new and novice archers but also one with a charitable element.  His choice this year, the Salisbury food bank.

Designed to introduce archers to the world of competition this was intended to be a less daunting environment than perhaps a full WRS tournament.  Judges for the day, Gloria and Gerald, spent a few minutes explaining the process, whistles, timing, AB-CD, equipment failure process...., that kind of stuff and experienced SWAC archers were also on hand to help with general queries during the course of shooting.

Despite the 'challenging' 30-40mph wind conditions, the shooting line was almost full and some remarkably impressive scores returned in each discipline.

Almost more impressive was the generosity of everyone and the Salisbury Food Bank will be stocking their shelves with a vast assortment of produce.

Huge thanks must be given to Tom Godson for organising fantastic event but also to Family-Tattershall for their refreshment tent and all the SWAC helpers, judges, archers and supporters who made the day so special.

This was the first Charity/Novice event run by SWAC but watch this space for next years event.
